John Banaszkiewicz
Managing Director
John Banaszkiewicz, commonly known as John B, co-founded Freight Investor Services in 2002, growing the company over the next 10 years into one of the world’s leading freight and commodity brokers. He previously spent 11 years at Cargill International in a variety of roles, notably as freight and grain trader in the ocean freight department. John’s determination and diligence in building liquidity in the multi-billion dollar FFA market, attracting clearing services and encouraging dialogue between users and brokers, are unquestioned among his peers. He has used this experience to develop related commodity swap markets, in iron ore, fertilizers, bunkers, steel, scrap and containers, helping to create the conditions for increased use of risk management across a wider range of products. John was the first chairman of the FFA Brokers Association and inaugural chairman of the Iron Ore & Steel Derivatives Association. He is a member of Baltic Exchange and a Financial Conduct Authority Registered Representative in the UK.
Peter Beekhuis

Peter is a native of New Zealand and a graduate of the University of Otago where he studied Geology and Finance. He began his career with Maersk Oil Trading in 2009 after spending almost 10 years in various roles in New Zealand and Denmark within the FMCG industry. At Maersk, Peter has looked after the Mediterranean, Russian and Northern European markets prior to taking over the trading activities on the Singapore desk in the middle of 2017.
Pontus Berg
Executive Vice President, Technical & Operations
Pontus Berg has over 20 years of shipping experience from Ship Owners and Technical Management companies. Mr Berg has sailed up in the rank of Chief Engineer. Prior to joining BW LPG in 2015. Mr Berg was General Manager & Director General of Greenship Gas France and prior that Technical Manager in Evergas and in Eitzen Gas. Mr Berg holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering from Kalmar Merchant Marine University.
Rashpal Bhatti
Vice President, Marketing Freight
Rashpal was appointed Vice President, Marketing Freight at BHP in August 2015. BHP is a leading global resources company whose purpose is to create long term shareholder value through the discovery,acquisition, development and marketing of natural resources essential to world growth and development. In his capacity as Vice President, Marketing Freight, Rashpal is accountable for BHP’s marine freight requirements which in aggregate make them one of the largest bulk charters in the world. Rashpal joined BHP in 2002 and has held various senior positions across Marketing, Technology and Procurement and has been based in Europe, the US, India and most recently Singapore. He graduated with an honours degree in Accountancy and Finance in London and acquired his core skillset of commodities supply chain and trading at Schlumberger and Enron. Rashpal holds a non-executive Director position on the RightShip Board and is a key proponent of raising performance and safety standards in the bulk marine industry. As a member of Singapore’s International Maritime Centre (IMC) 2030 Advisory Committee, Rashpal contributes to the future of the maritime industry through advice on technological disruption and sustainability.
Julian Bray
Julian Bray is Editor-in-Chief of TradeWinds, the shipping business news publisher which since its launch 25 years ago has become a reference point for decision makers in the industry. During a career in business journalism, he has won awards for both reporting and editing and built a track record of product innovation having lead numerous newspaper, magazine and website launches and relaunches. In addition to his specialist knowledge of maritime commerce, he has also been a Correspondent for the Reuters news agency, written for national newspapers and magazines, and made television and radio appearances. Away from the office, a love of the natural work often takes him to wild and mountainous regions to walk, cycle, climb and watch wildlife with family and friends. He also has a passionate interest in politics, culture and music.
William Chin

William Chin is Senior Vice President and Head of Commodities at Singapore Exchange. William joined SGX in 2015, and is responsible for the strategy and direction of the Commodities business at the SGX covering the bulks, freight, energy and rubber markets. In 2016, he was a key member of the team involved in the acquisition of the Baltic Exchange. Prior to SGX, William was SVP of Commodities at the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, and Head of LME Asia in Singapore, responsible for the LME’s presence and growth in the Asia region. He began his career in the New Zealand financial markets as a rates and FX trader for ANZ investment bank in Wellington before joining Barclays Capital in London, and later on as Head of Commodities and Energy Risk at the LCH.Clearnet covering base and precious metals, power, gas, freight and agricultural products. William holds a Master’s degree in Applied Finance from the Victoria University of Wellington and is a CFA charterholder.
Timothy Cosulich

Timothy started his career as a Consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers first in London and then in Madrid, in the Valuation & Strategy department, focusing on M&A transactions. He then got his MBA from INSEAD and later on joined the A.P. Moller Maersk Group in The Netherlands as a General Manager, focusing on New Terminals acquisition and development. In 2010 Timothy joined his family business, Fratelli Cosulich, where he sits on the Group Board of Directors and holds the role of CEO - Marine Fuels. Fratelli Cosulich is a diversified Group founded in 1857, fully owned by the Cosulich family, now at its sixth generation. The Group is active in a number of aspects of the Shipping Industry, from ship-owning, to ship-agency, freight-forwarding, catering, manning, yacht-services, and marine fuel trading and supplying. Fratelli Cosulich has offices in 15 countries, approx. 1,000 employees worldwide and a yearly turnover of USD 1.9bn. Timothy is also the Chairman of IBIA Asia and sits on a number of boards, including IBIA, YPO Singapore, and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore.

Howard is currently working as an FFA Trader alongside the Capesize Chartering Team at Oldendorff in the Asia Pacific. He is focusing on FFA swaps across all sizes, Cape, Panamax and Supramax and in particular, the Asia market after his transfer to Singapore in 2014. Prior to joining Oldendorff, Howard was working for SSY Futures for both London and Singapore Offices as a Freight Derivatives Broker.
James Johnston

James joined Braemar ACM in early 2016 as their lead dry bulk analyst in London. As well as a breadth of knowledge across the dry bulk freight market, he brings first hand commercial insight having worked for many years in chartering and commodities trading roles. After graduating from Oxford University James started his career at Clarksons before moving on to spend a decade at BHP Billiton in the Hague and Singapore. Working initially as a freight market analyst before moving into the Panamax and then Capesize chartering teams, he had a particular focus on the iron ore supply chain and market, with extensive travel in China. In January 2014 he joined BHP’s coal trading team with responsibility for sales of thermal and coking coals into Asian markets. Upon returning to London in 2016 he joined Braemar ACM in his current position.

Rahul is a Senior Analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, covering transportation sector including shipping, shipyards, airlines and logistics. Prior to joining BI, he was the head of Drewry Financial Research Services Ltd where he led a team covering global maritime equities and credit. He also worked as Lead Equity Analyst at RS Platou Markets (Asia) and was an Associate Analyst at Nomura. Rahul holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering and a Postgraduate in Business Management.
Rakhi Rastogi

Rakhi Rastogi serves as the regional head of market research and analysis for Cargill’s ocean transportation business based in Singapore. A graduate of Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, Rakhi provides expert insight of global commodities and freight markets. Rakhi started her career with Cargill as a credit risk analyst in Geneva, Switzerland. After two years, Rakhi became a global commodity analyst; she provided fundamental analysis of steel markets to support Cargill’s physical and derivative trading of steel and ferrous scrap. In 2013, Rakhi moved to Singapore to setup the analytics function for Cargill’s metals business, which focused on Chinese steel and global iron ore. Elsewhere, Rakhi has worked for BHP Billiton and held multiple roles in the Indian banking sector. Rakhi holds an MBA from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford where she was a Naomi Molson Scholar. She is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from S.R.C.C, Delhi University.

Thomas Semino has served as Chief Commercial Officer of Golden Ocean since November 2016. Prior to joining Golden Ocean Mr. Semino was Head of Dry Freight in Vitol S.A., and has previously been Managing Director of Ocean Freight in Bunge S.A., and also has background from Cargill S.A. and Coeclerici Spa. Mr. Semino has a law degree in Maritime Law from Universita' degli Studi di Genova.

Joined Taylor Maritime in 2016. Previously served as Group Strategy Director at Anglo-Eastern Ship Management, Director at Univan Ship Management and General Manager at tanker and bulker owner Vanship Holdings. Prior to that worked with Pacific Basin in Hong Kong and Citigroup’s investment banking division in London. Graduated from Oxford University with an MA, and has attended a management programme at INSEAD.
David Wu

Mr. Wu educated as a Medical Doctor and holds an MBA degree from Rutgers University, New Jersey , USA. He has more than 24 years of experience in shipping and offshore Oil & Gas sector. He worked as Country Manager of IM Skaugen SE to establish various businesses in China in the areas of ship management, newbuildings, seafarers training and LPG transportation in Yangtze River, China, et al. Then he went to offshore engineering business to serve Chinese shipyards and CNOOC et al. In 2011, Mr. Wu started his own investment co called Landmark Capital, a Shanghai based investment and fund management company focusing on shipping, offshore O&G and LNG sectors. Landmark Capital has done lots of transactions in the Sale and Leasing biz and also invested to build offshore drilling rigs in China. It also involved in development of LNG related new technologies by investing into LNT Marine and ConnectLNG in Norway. In 2015, Mr. Wu established Saga LNG Shipping in Singapore to start Small – Mid scale LNG shipping business by ordering one 45000cbm LNGC based on LNT A-Box in CMHI shipyard in China. LNT A-Box is a IMO A type LNG containment system developed by LNT Marine. This ship “ Saga Dawn” will be delivered in May 2019 and serves a long time Charter. Saga LNG Shipping aims to build a fleet of 15-20 SM scale LNGC in the near future. Caroline Yang

Ms Caroline Yang is Chief Executive, Hong Lam Marine Pte Ltd. She started her career with Hong Lam Marine as their in-house counsel from 1991 to 2002. She was appointed Executive Director of our Company in 2002 and has more than 20 years’ experience in the shipping industry. Ms Yang graduated with L.L.B. Honours (University of London) and B.A. Honours (National University of Singapore) in 1990. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1992. She subsequently passed Bar Exams of Singapore in 1992 and called to the Bar of Singapore in 1995. She is a member of the Singapore Academy of Law.
