Julian Bray

Julian Bray is Editor-in-Chief of TradeWinds, the shipping business news publisher which since its launch 25 years ago has become a reference point for decision makers in the industry. During a career in business journalism, he has won awards for both reporting and editing and built a track record of product innovation having lead numerous newspaper, magazine and website launches and relaunches. In addition to his specialist knowledge of maritime commerce, he has also been a Correspondent for the Reuters news agency, written for national newspapers and magazines, and made television and radio appearances. Away from the office, a love of the natural work often takes him to wild and mountainous regions to walk, cycle, climb and watch wildlife with family and friends. He also has a passionate interest in politics, culture and music.
 
Martin Crawford-Brunt

Bringing more than 20 years maritime expertise to the organisation, Martin commenced as Chief Executive Officer with RightShip in March 2018. Martin’s work has seen him live and work across many countries and cultures. He has been involved many safety initiatives, supported ship owners and investors around the world, and in recent years has been highly involved in the digital transformation of the maritime industry. Prior to his role at RightShip Martin was with DNV / DNV GL for fifteen years. Most recently, Martin was a Regional Manager – West Europe & Africa, where he was responsible for strategic initiatives relating to key decision makers in the region, and driving impact and growth in advisory & classification services. Focus areas for his work included safety improvement, effective compliance including alternative fuels & emissions reductions, and digitalisation in a transparent operating environment. A graduate in Mechanical Engineering & Naval Architecture, Martin started his maritime career as a class society surveyor, equipment certifier and auditor. He gained first-hand experience of ship board operations on a geared bulk carrier in the deck and engine room as part of his training
 
Shigekazu Haruyama

Mr Shigekazu Haruyama joined Asahi Tanker in 1985. He was positioned in Singapore in 1990 and was head of New York branch office in 1992. In 2011, he assumed the role of General Manager at Asahi Tanker and was on board of directors in 2013. Currently, he serves as the Managing Director of Asahi Tanker.
 
Jigo Hayashi

Mr. Hayashi has over 25 years of banking and finance experience spanning Europe and Asia Pacific having held client facing roles in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, and New York. He began his professional career with J.P. Morgan in Tokyo and assumed important operating positions in the banking and shipping industry successively. Since joining Tokyo Century Corporation in 2017, Mr. Hayashi has responsibility for establishing, leading and expanding the Company's ship finance business throughout Europe and North/South Asia providing solutions to the Company's non-Japanese client universe. A primary focus is managing key relationships in the sector. A Certified Treasury Professional, he earned Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University in Australia and BA degree from International Christian University in Japan.
 
Shinya Hitomi

Mr Shinya Hitomi joined Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisen (NYK Lines) in 1984. He rose to the position of General Manager in 2011 and was in charge of different key Groups within NYK over the years. He was appointed Corporate Officer; in charge of Energy Coordination Group, Tanker Group and Fuel Group in 2018.
 
Hiroshi Iwamoto

Hiroshi (Dave) Iwamoto entered Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy industries in 1969 and have held several managerial and directorial positions in various key departments in the company. With the merger between IHI Marine United and Universal Shipbuilding Corporation in 2013, Dave is currently the Counselling Staff with the Corporate Planning Department in Japan Marine United. With close to 50 years of experience with Japanese shipbuilding, Dave also assumed several honorary roles in industry associations notably International Sub-Committee Chairman of the Shipbuilders' Association of Japan, and Council Member of ASEF.
 
Yoshikazu Kawagoe

Yoshikazu Kawagoe is a Senior Managing Executive Officer of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd., responsible for the Technical Division and Smart Shipping Division, and secondarily responsible for MOL Information Systems, Ltd. as Chief Technical Officer. He is an expert of marine technology.
 
Ichiro Kono

Mr Ichiro Kono joined Kawasaki Heavy Industries in 1981. For more than 3 decades, he has a rich career in shipbuilding mainly at Kobe Shipyard and has assumed numerous senior positions including General Manager of Sakaide Shipyard as well as the same of Kobe Shipyard. He is currently the Vice President, Ship & Offshore Structure Company of Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

 
Yuta Murakami

Yuta is a Partner in McKinsey’s Tokyo office. He is the leader of Travel, Transport and Logistics practice as well as Manufacturing and Supply Chain practice in Tokyo. In his 10 years with the firm so far, he has been serving number of global and local clients in logistics space, including shipping lines, airlines, trucking, parcel, and warehouse real estate. Recent focus is on digitization of operations and building innovation in logistics enterprises. Yuta holds an Master of Public Policy at Kyoto University

Mr. Hiroyuki Ohira joined Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) in 1984. With more than 3 decades of experience in shipbuilding, he assumed senior positions such as General Manager, Shipbuilding & Ocean Development Division of Industry & Infrastructure as well as Commercial Aviation & Transportation Systems. He is currently Director of Mitsubishi Shipbuilding, the company which was established in conjunction with reorganization of MHI’s shipbuilding business on January 1, 2018.
 
Yoshio Otagaki

Mr Yoshio Otagaki joined Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries in 1975. In the course of over 35 years, he assumed several senior positions as the General Manager before being appointed as Managing Director and Vice President of IHI Marine United in 2012. When Japan Marine United Corporation was established in 2013, he was appointed as the Representative Director and Vice President of JMU. Currently, he serves as the Adviser in Management and Technology, and supporting JMU on technical development activities.
 
Dr Shinichiro Otsubo

For more than 25 years, Dr. Otsubo has been working in various divisions under the Maritime Bureau at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Tokyo, Japan. He is currently the Senior Deputy Director General who supervises overall issues of the Maritime Bureau, in particular, international, domestic shipping and international affairs. Dr. Otsubo obtained his degrees at University of Tokyo and Harvard University.
 
Paul Pathy

Paul Pathy was appointed sole President and Chief Executive Officer of Fednav Limited and of Fednav International Ltd (FIL) in 2016. Paul Pathy joined the Fednav Group in 2003, as Vice President and General Manager of Federal Marine Terminals (FMT). He was named Executive Vice-President of Fednav Limited in 2007, and from 2010 shared responsibility with his brother, Mark Pathy, as President and Co-CEO. In this role he was responsible for various company departments including the Shipowning, Arctic Operations, and Projects group, as well as Finance, Investment, and Risk Management. Paul Pathy obtained a BA in Psychology from Emory University in Atlanta, GA, in 1994, where he was the school’s first ever NCAA decathlete. He went on to receive a JD and MBA from University of Denver, CO, in 1999 and 2000, and subsequently became a member of the New York State Bar. Married with two children, Paul serves as a Director of Fednav Limited and the Pathy Family Foundation, and is active in the community and in philanthropy in his native Montreal.
 
Esben Poulsson

Esben Poulsson is Executive Chairman of ENESEL PTE. LTD., a Singapore based commercial management and ship owning entity, managing a fleet of large modern container vessels all under the Singapore Flag. Mr. Poulsson has worked in the maritime industry for over 40 years and has held a variety of senior management positions in Hong Kong, London, Copenhagen and Singapore. Aside from his Chairmanship of Enesel Pte. Ltd., he is a Non-Executive Director of X-Press Feeders Ltd., of Hafnia Tankers Pte. Ltd., of Nordic Shipholding A/S and of Avra International Pte. Ltd. He is non-executive Chairman of Cambiaso Risso Asia Pte. Ltd. and of Tamar Shipmanagement Ltd. and serves as Senior Advisor to Straits Tankers Pte. Ltd. He also serves on the Board of the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). He is President of the Singapore Shipping Association and is an Advisory Panel Member of the Singapore Maritime Foundation. In 2018, he was re-elected Chairman of the London-based International Chamber of Shipping, which represents about 80% of the world fleet through a membership of 35 National Shipowner Association and 11 Associate Member Organisations.

Shinichiro Sasaki is a Senior Managing Director at Anchor Ship Partners Co., Ltd., which is the largest ship investment fund in Japan, where Sasaki has applied his 25+ years of expertise in shipping and shipbuilding industries to provide opportunities suited to the investment requirements of his clients. Having a background of the structured ship financing at Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd. and using his extensive networks and experience of the new building and S&P business at Nissho Iwai Corporation (current Sojitz Corporation), Sasaki also provides consultations to Japanese regional banks using both a theoretical and a practical approach. Leveraging the leading edge financing method, Sasaki aims to provide best solutions to Japanese maritime industry, reflecting the market needs with making the best use of the unique Japanese shipping fund structure. Sasaki holds a MBA in finance from Graduate School of Finance, Accounting and Law, Waseda University.

Nobuo Shiotsu is Deputy Director General of the Dry Bulk Business Unit at Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL), mainly responsible for Cape/Panamax Size Dry Bulk Carrier Business. He was named Executive Officer in April 2017.
 
Hirofumi Takano

Hirofumi Takano is Senior Corporate Officer / Director of Innovation Development Division of ClassNK. He oversees management systems certification, renewable energy, digital transformation and emerging ClassNK's business going beyond traditional ship classification role. Hirofumi graduated School of Engineering of Osaka University in 1980 and joined ClassNK. He was appointed to General Manager of Istanbul Office in 1999. After he backed to ClassNK Head Office he has taken the several General Manager roles at Materials and Equipment Department, Practical R&D Promotion Department, and Renewable Energy Department. He was promoted to Director of Innovation Development Division in 2016, and assumed the position of Senior Corporate Officer in 2018 while retaining the role at Innovation Development Division.
 
Yasuo Tanaka

Mr Yasuo Tanaka joined Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK Lines) in 1979. Over 35 years, he has assumed many leadership positions under Technical and Engineering Group. He was appointed Senior Managing Corporate Officer in 2015. When Monohakobi Technology Institute (MTI) was formed in 2004, Mr Tanaka was the Chief Technology Officer and Director of MTI. He was appointed President of MTI in 2016 and they now have around 70 employees in Tokyo Head office and Singapore Branch office.
