Ship Recycling Forum 2023

11 - 12 October 2023 | Swissôtel The Stamford, Singapore

Charting the future of ship recycling - big opportunities and big responsibilities

The much anticipated TradeWinds Ship Recycling Forum returns in 2023, this time in Singapore.

After fourteen years of waiting, the ratifications of June 2023 confirmed that the Hong Kong Convention for the safe and environmentally sound recycling of ships will finally be brought into force from 2025. It is a poignant milestone for the TradeWinds Ship Recycling Forum which in previous years has proudly given a platform to industry leaders advocating for its adoption. Nonetheless this critical moment is set against the backdrop of a challenging market and raises further questions about how the industry will evolve.

On the horizon, large increases in demand for ship recycling will converge with more stringent – and potentially contradictory – regulations. This dynamic is set to pose significant challenges for everyone - from shipowners wary of reputational and legal risk, to yards in a race against time to achieve compliance. Can the industry channel a collaborative and positive approach to reducing regulatory conflicts of interest, improving recycling standards and transparency, and maximizing future capacity?

Join us in Singapore as the TradeWinds Ship Recycling Forum will again unite policymakers, shipowners, shipbreakers, financiers, legal experts and all key stakeholders to discuss the big questions facing our industry in the new landscape.

Join the conversation that will shape the next phase of the journey.
