Shipping amid commodity market shocks
Volatility has returned to dry bulk markets as the war in Ukraine and the unwinding of covid port congestion have fresh uncertainty after the bumper year of 2021 when freight rates hit decade-highs.
The TradeWinds Shipowners Forum Singapore 2022 is the official shipping forum of Singapore International Ferrous Week 2022. And this in-person event will bring together decision makers and influence formers to discuss the outlook across the dry cargo space in these turbulent times.
Strong demand growth for dry bulk commodities such as iron ore and grains will continue to underpin charter rates, but recent shocks and the drive to decarbonize shipping may reshape trade dynamics for other cargoes such as coal. We will examine how leading players are reacting to these pressures and adapt their strategies.
We will also examine the competitive position of Singapore as an international maritime hub as the global shipping sector grapples with these changes.
The event is comprised of three sessions
Session One: Challenges and Opportunities in the post-pandemic era
Session Two: What’s next for dry bulk freight?
Session Three: FFAs see strong resurgence in the pandemic, will the growth sustain?
